For me, becoming a Registered Massage Therapist (in 2000), Personal Trainer and Qi Gong instructor was a destined career path and borne out of my family experiences and passions.
I am passionate about sports, physical activity and the way the body works.
I come from an athletic family, and love of sports and athletics have come naturally. I have always been quite active in the sport of triathlon and competed in 5 Ironman competitions, the Boston marathon (2022), and many other events. This love of sports and activity, as well as several injury recoveries gave rise to becoming a personal trainer. I have been able to pass this knowledge on to clients in RMT and Personal Training work helping them become and stay injury free.
I am fascinated with the mind-body connection
My mother’s remission from multiple cancer diagnoses, partially as a result of use of the Chinese art of Qi Gong, gave rise to my fascination with the mind-body connection and an enhanced interest in the healing arts. I now teach at the Hopespring Cancer Support Centre in Waterloo.
Love of care giving and helping others
I thrive on helping people recover from pain and dysfunction. It’s so rewarding to see someone getting stronger, healthier and better under my care. I am constantly learning more therapies and techniques so that I can help my clients in new and different ways.
Influence of injury
I have been impacted by a low back injury in 2020. Despite this being a setback for me personally, the recovery from this has helped me be a better RMT and Personal Trainer going forward I believe as I see things differently, and can customize rehab and recovery for patients coming back from injuries themselves in a different way now,
