Personal Training
Personal training can be of benefit to everyone, regardless of your fitness level and age. I believe in building strength, endurance, body awareness and health with a mind-body approach. I utilize various equipment as well as body weight to strengthen and train, with the goal of optimizing wellness, rehabilitation from injury and injury prevention above all. I work with you based on your ability and strength/balance.
Personal training is done on an in-home visit basis. Rates are between $80-90 depending on your location.

I've worked with teenagers, just starting to build muscle and strength to ensure that they have proper form and technique from the start.
"My teenage son wanted to start lifting weights like his friends. I asked Joel if he would train him so that he would know how to do it correctly and not get hurt. Joel actually suggested that body weight is the ideal way to build muscle and strength for a growing boy, and not an excess of weight lifting. He taught him some great exercises, and showed him proper mechanics for running, skating and golfing which has made a huge improvement in how he performs in those sports. And as a mom, I am confident now that he knows how to properly exercise to avoid injury and strain."

I work with patients who are recovering from an injury and want to get back to their fitness level as soon as possible.
"I had hurt my knee, which has been a recurring problem since I was young. I wanted to get back on my feet as soon as possible to resume normal life, but I also wanted to reduce the chance of this happening again. We determined, that I had actually been running incorrectly for years and that had led to recurring knee issues. Joel was able to give me exercises not only to strengthen my knee, but also to strengthen my entire leg, and more importantly exercises to improve my running technique so that this hopefully will happen less in the future."

I have worked with seniors, who offer challenges with strength, stamina and bone density, and who still want to remain active/recover from injuries.
"When I was young, I was very active. As I grew older, I was exercising less and it really began to show in my energy level and overall health. I wanted to keep up with my grandkids...and that was not possible. Joel was able to give me some simple exercises to do in my room, while watching TV and on a walk that really helped me feel stronger and better. You can also tell that he has worked a lot with seniors...he has a lovely demeanor and is very respectful. I wish I had done this sooner!"

As a triathlete myself, I enjoy working with athletes preparing for marathons and triathlons, helping them compete and do their best.
"I have been an athlete all my life, and i wanted to push my limits by competing in a triathlon. Separately, I am a good runner, cyclist and swimmer, but I knew that I needed some help to train for a race where I'd need to do all three. Joel helped with strategies both for the athletics portion, but what turned out to be the most helpful was the mental coaching and what to expect during the race. I was able to complete my first triathlon and I'm training for another one!"
